In the fall of 2024, a team took the stage at the Yoo Jae-ha Music Competition finals. UNXL (Unofficial). Selected as one of ten finalists, their music captivated both judges and audience alike. A few months later, their real story began on a small stage called Nonol.
Story
UNXL is a uniquely formed duo consisting of INTEC on vocals and bass, and JESE on guitar. The meeting between INTEC, who had been steadily active as a singer-songwriter, and JESE, who worked as a session guitarist and arranger for various artists, was no coincidence.
Embracing the legacy of the brilliant digital sound of the 1980s as producers, while delivering the warmth of analog as performers — this is UNXL's distinctive color. Building on each member's musical experience, they nurture each other's strengths, constructing a complete musical world that goes beyond a simple duo.
Original songs like 'Do I Like You,' 'What If,' 'At the End of Some World,' and 'Leaving You Behind' are representative works showcasing UNXL's musical spectrum. They freely cross the boundaries between ballad and indie, sometimes revealing jazz sophistication, sometimes folk simplicity.
Recently, UNXL's name could once again be confirmed at the 36th Yoo Jae-ha Music Competition hosted by the CJ Cultural Foundation. At the finals held at Gwanak Art Hall, while Auri won the grand prize and Prism received the CJ Cultural Foundation Award, UNXL also drew attention as one of the ten finalists.
